Hi,
I had a chance to visit the fashion hub Paris.
There are many tours available there but the thrill is when you take the maps and roam around on YOUR OWN!!! :)
First things first, when you land at the Airport (Charles de gaulle, CDG), you need to take the gate 6 to come out. From there you will find many FREE shuttles sponsored by various hotels. If you are two/three people, and want a decent and not very costly stay for a day or two, you can take shuttle of premier hotel. It costs around 50 Euros per day per room. Rooms are double bed, so both can share.
Once you are thru with the stay, take the same shuttle from the hotel and go to the nearest GARE (Railway station) which is CDG 2. There you will find many maps about the city. Take a day pass for 18 Euros. With this pass, you can take any bus, train, subway etc for that day. The information center will help you a lot.
Eiffel towers should be the priority... Obviously... :) If possible try to visit it in the evening.
Here you need to take a separate ticket for 11.50 Euros to take a lift to go to the top most floor.
In the lift as well as on the top you experience an awesome view!!!
Its a great monument...
Once Eiffel is done, you can decide what is your priority.
There is a fashion street kind of, near to that, where you can shop. However based on my experience I would suggest you to shop only at the duty free shops at the Airport.
I had a connecting journey through Dubai. So I shopped at Dubai Duty Free. Its amazing and dead cheap. Chocolates, perfumes and Alcohol are very cheap. Even Gold is ok.
You will see the list in the maps you get from the station. Roam full day and then return to the CDG 2 again. Come out and take the same shuttle again to reach the hotel.
You can make use of this shuttle to go back to the airport for your onward journey.
Trust me its worth watching and the thrill is in searching the places on your own with various maps in your hand, and struggling with the language to ask for various people. ;)
